Kristin Haugan, M.D.
Education: University of Minnesota School of Medicine
Specialty Training: Family Medicine at University of Minnesota North Memorial
Board Ceritification: Family Medicine, Integrative Holistic Medicine
Biography: Growing up in Park Rapids Minnesota, Kristin’s Dad was a General Practitioner. She would sometimes ride along with him when he made house calls. She knew at an early age that she too, wanted to be a doctor.
Several years ago, Dr. Haugan’s yoga and meditation practice brought a new level of awareness to her medical practice. She studied Holistic Medicine, Mind Body Medicine and Functional Medicine and developed a more holistic approach to caring for her patients. “I talk with my patients about balance: in relationships, stress, sleep, nutrition and a sense of purpose”, she says. I believe that people are not reduced to being patients with illness, rather each person is an individual seeking health and vitality.”
Dr. Haugan enters into a healing partnership with patients: Each patient brings a sense of hope, a desire for wellness and a sense of agency around their health; she brings her full presence with respectful listening, aiming to see the whole person and her overall health goals.
Dr. Haugan loves working in a small clinic environment. “Our clinic has a real sense of humanity,” she says. “We feel like a family who cares.”
In her free time, Kristin teaches yoga in a church near her home. She loves gardening, walking, biking, dancing and traveling with her husband Steve.
